A delta migration is usually carried out when Windchill® is introduced as a PLM system or when the Windchill® system is upgraded.
The latter case is the more important case for IFConneX because during the delta migration, the database of the Windchill® system is updated and reset at regular intervals and this has an impact on IFConneX.
Impact on IFConneX
Delta migration can lead to subsequent objects or settings becoming obsolete or no longer available:
Preferences from the Windchill® Preference Management utility
IFConneX database tables and settings:
Key value store
Keyword catalogs
Workflows and other Windchill® settings
Newly defined attributes, e.g., state/sync flags
To counteract these effects, certain process steps must be carried out in the source and target systems before and after delta migration. These are explained below.
Before delta migration, in the source system: | Optional: Check in Windchill® whether IFConneX is already installed and active. If the interface is active, deactivate it. Check whether the data server tables are available. If these are not yet available, for IFConneX from version 2.17.0, depending on the data type, execute one of the following SQL scripts in the source database: <deploy>/dataserver/dataserver_oracle.sql <deploy>/dataserver/dataserver_sqlserver.sql
Important: In the SQL scripts, the “use <databaseName>” statement at the top may need to be adapted with the correct name. Note: The IFCNX tables are already created in the source database and are therefore directly available in the target system once the delta migration has taken place.
|
Before delta migration, in the target system: | Export the current IFConneX settings from the target system, e.g: Preferences from the Windchill® Preference Management utility IFConneX database tables and settings: Key value store Keyword catalogs
Workflow templates Other Windchill® objects modified by Innoface (e.g., lifecycle templates, OIR)
|
Delta migration: | Perform the delta migration as described by PTC®.
|
After the delta migration: | Import the backup of the source database. Optional: If you skipped Step 3 of this process description, recreate the data server tables. Note: IFConneX version 2.17.0 and higher may not have data server tables. This means that Windchill® no longer starts after the backup has been imported. The data server tables must then be created again accordingly before Windchill® can be started. Start Windchill® Open the Windchill shell in the unpacked deploy directory and execute the ant register_preferences command, to register the settings of the interface. Import the following: Preferences from the Windchill® Preference Management utility Key value store
Install the license if it is not already included in the key value store Import workflow templates and other Windchill® objects modified by Innoface (e.g. lifecycle templates, OIR) Import and fill the keyword catalogs, see CRON. Check the system for missing attributes and recreate them if necessary.
|
After delta migration, in the target system: | Optional: For process steps that must be carried out after installation, such as the use of the Reassign Life Cycle Utility or the mass loading of objects, deactivate IFConneX in the target system. Note: To deactivate, navigate to Location → Utilities→ Preference Management → INNOFACE → IFConneX → Main settings and set Integration active to No.
